Btw, we now have 6 folders who are avg'ing over 1000 points a day 🙂

Great job you guys.

With my gpu and cpu on one rig and a dual-core proc in my notebook, I should be able to get my avg up (if the dang server actually accepts my units, missing a nice, chunky one right now)to about 700 or so I think.

The gpu should easily be able to average close to 700 by itself per day 😀 I love it. And it's only @ 60%. I might change the settings in config to perhaps 80%, but I don't want to push it too much right now.

all those ps3 made me drop in the ranking... 😛 ... still is good to see the team is making more points/day

oh, and that issue with the uploading of units has been pissing me off too... i've been trying different settings but sometimes I have to wait hours before the data gets sent, and then wait a little more for the update

I just got 7 points for a work-unit lol.

I will keep my comments on that to myself 😎

🙂

I am missing about 700 odd points over the past week coz of the ridiculous upload errors the stupid servers have been having.

And 7 points for a one day WU ? has to be some kind of record 😉

Hooray for an additional 2 WU's subbed for 0 points 😎

Gotta love Stanford. It's a wonder they can get anything to work over the years.

Ace job laddies 🙂

Got 2 machines folding at the moment, anyone doing it with a ps3?
Seems to be delevelling the playing field a little tho.

I am seriously considering buy a ps3 just to help with folding and to play Blu-Ray.

I have gift-cards handy. Pity that I have to pay out for taxes this year 🙁 would have been nice if I got some money coming back in to me.

Oh well.

About 900 points a day per ps3 😱

I can't get it going, I have a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series that doesn't support the interface and when trying the command prompt version get the same evry 10 seconds error: Could not connect to Work Server
Error: Attempt #6 to get work failed, and no other work to do
Waiting beofre reply.
I'm on Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Yay, I just lost another 500 pointer and a 330 pointer in the past 5 hrs 😎

I killed the cpu folding client on my desktop last night.

I've sort of had it with folding 24/7 on it for so long, receiving constant and regular updates even with EUE's and now, for the past 2 weeks or so, receving NOTHING even when it's chugging away. The client continuously dies and gives me 0 points even for work completed.

I'm done with it.

My laptop will continue folding and my gpu will continue folding but that too could be up in the air depending on how many times my work fails to be credited or received properly.

Let's just say that seeing over 3k worth of points and hard work towards research my cpu and gpu have done evaporate doesn't really make me a happy camper.

Like I said before, you'd think that Stanford would be able to get it's act together with the r580 core on the market for so long and vista having been RTM for so many months.

So, GPU is back folding.

Figured out the issue, wasn't solely related to F@H's client. Design of the heatsink and it's sheer weight contributed.

I fiddled around with it and now, it's running even cooler than before 😀

Hey Kunal--

Regarding the Sidebar project, would there be any way to change the color triggers? Instead of having it be the percentage of the WU done, could it be red for "core not running", yellow for "unknown status" and green for "core running"? Is that feasible?

Should be feasible if you only have one F@h instance running, but it's tricky for the multi-core/multi-processor scenario.

I could use WMI to check for a running F@h process, but in the multi-core case, each core would have a process running with the same name, so there's no way to distinguish between them unless I check the PIDs. But then the PIDs are different each time the processes are spawned.

I know there is one way to do it because that is exactly what FAHmon does...they may have some more information on their page....let me look real quick

They have the source available here:
http://fahmon.silent-blade.org/index.php?n=Main.Download
It looks like they're reading the FAHlog file - if it reads "Folding@Home Client Shutdown," they assume that the client is not running. That should be fine in most cases, but I think it's sort of hacky. What happens, for instance, if the process gets killed or terminates unexpectedly before it can write to the log file?

With that said, I think I might be able to implement this using WMI for the multi-core case, if I can figure out how to overcome a permissions issue I'm running into at the moment. 🙂
