Hmmm, it's a very controversial topic and has gotten me thinking. As previously said, I can see both sides of the argument as i'm going into the software development industry, but i also am an end user.

Macromedia have done a microsoft and cornered the market for certain things. If you want to create Shockwave or Flash content, you need Flash, I don't know any other programs that handle that, so they can afford to charge the earth for it.

Supply and demand on their part, they only charge what the consumer is willing to pay, and judging by sales, people are prepared to pay.

I can already see it happening. If it needs to be done, someone will just hack the final XP service pack 1 so it installs on any cd/product key, not that there isn't enough k*y generators out there already

I mean look at what Bill Gates said about Windows XP being unpiratable and don't get me started about the XBox LOL!

anewhope may be right , but using pirated software just doesnt make us feel as guilty as stealing a car. It just isnt the same. A car somehow feels more tangible than software, it isnt someting that can be destroyed by "format c:" . And how are poor people in countries like India supposed to keep up with the competition just because they cant afford to use software that has become the standard due to no fault of their own ?

how the hell is any one going to compare cars with computer software? i mean are we talking about expensive ass cars? how are you going to compare stealing a bmw to "stealing" win xp by dl it off of some site, or even adobe photoshop wich i think is more expensive? there not even in the same price range.

you cannot compair stealing a car with pirating software, that absolutly rediculus;
if you steal a car, you now own a car, and the previous owner now has NO car...
if you pirate software, you now own the software, and the previous owner ALSO has the software...
not perfect logic, but you get the point.
its a BIG difference.

I use winxp and has never asked me for product activasion or ANY serial number. When I first installed XP it asked me "Do you want to register with microsoft? --> NO, ill do it later"

Well, windows has been hacked and pirated since it was released, even in 5 1/2 floppies. Also windows itself is not an original os. The whole reason why XP is so widely pirated is simply because microsoft put a HUGE and i mean HUGE "Pirate Me, Crack Me Bulls Eye sign when they released the WPA with windows" If they would have released it with regular keys, i dotn even think a keygen would have been made. By the way SP1 isnt scary it has been cracked long ago, oh by the way WARNING, some SP1 Keygens have Viruses and Trojans, just warning ya... not like i tried one

Never understood the consept of sleeping with vergins, or do you need to make sure they have no one to compare to?
