has any one ever used a hacked ver of xp?

well....I thought the keygen was just a virus KERMIT that renamed all the *.exe files making your pc inoperable........isn't it a virus?....if it isn't well my apologies to you.

There was one

I heard that there was one that was as you said a virus

but no it works and it works like a charm I have tested it and I read everything I can find I remember an acrticle stateing that it was impossible to slipstream sp1 into a pirated version of xp and they had said they tried some 75 keys and none worked and bla bla , I slipstreamed it and it works cd is bootable, seems most of what I have read over the last while has been paranoid peeps or maybe M$ spies using scare tactits only thing we have no news about is the all so famous v5 windows update that is due out soon and maybe we will see that m$ blocks out the keys made by keygen of even blows up the puters using keys not made by M$ LOLOL who knows maybe they will track down all the millions of people not using a valid key and line them up against the wall and shoot them??

yeah ok wellwe shall see in a few weeks eh ;)

this is silly anyone can get sp1 FOR FREE??????????

thats the same kind of warez counterstrike lol... i cant believe people would actually download something like that from warez when they could quite easily get a quicker download rate from a legit server where its free of pr0n popups and crappy bonzibuddy and gator installation boxes lol

ahh well, that 100% explains the crappiness of the lecturers at my old uni doesnt it? "DOS comes from UNIX" (they said) lol... oh dear :/

Nice thread

My XP is a corporate version, and I used a keygen to install it. It came with the FCKGW or something key....

AT first I bought win95. Then I bought win98. I can assure you, I had to save my money to afford it as I was going to school, and 'living' on my parents' financial left-overs (not much thus). When Win98 SE came out, I was furious, and refused paying for that. Copied it. Till now I have EVERY operating system MS released so far, and I even own floppies with 3.11. I also have a legit MSDN cd with licence that contains both WinXP PRO and HOME. I have the devil's own copy too. Since Win98 I have never paid for an OS, or a program (used to buy Office Packages too) EXCEPT office XP coz I got a tremendous discount via my former school. So the copy is legit, but the way I got it is not, coz I don't go to school anymore.

M$ got sum money from me, they're not getting a fortune.

No I doubt it.. more than likely you just have a selfish attitude of not wanting to spend money, or even just for the hell of it.

Most of us have an all-time favourite car, does it mean we should be going out stealing them, cos we cannot afford to buy it ourselves?.. no.. so why should it be any different for PC software. The amount of extra money wasted on ways to stop copying is unbelievable, and if people just gave alittle thought then maybe the entire economy wouldnt be so bad.

Sorry to moan.. but as I work for a software company, I feel quite within my rights to complain! Grrrrrrr!!! ;)

That may be, but when you want to buy that car you at least get to take a test drive in it. I just hate it when I have to buy a program I haven't been able to test for myself.

And as for illegal copying, did you read the article from the Head of Napster? When Napter closed its free downloading service, revenues in the music buisness went down a pretty percentage. I think the same applies to M$.

Not that I endorse stealing programs, but I use them often to test them. When I like them, I buy them. I own a legit version of Windows XP Pro just because I liked it better above Win2k and 98.

Microsoft didn't steal from unix. Bill Gates bought dos of someone else. I cant remember his name.

very good point m8... i completely agree cuz thats why I personally have corp winxp pro and why I had copied WinME and Win2K aswell. Win95 (Rev2) I bought myself, Win98 I bought. Win98SE I thought wtf? I tried a copied version, but it crashed my pc a lot, so I went back to Win98 first edition after about a week of using the 2nd edition. From then, I didnt want to buy another Windows without fully testing it first. I woulda bought WinME had I not found Win2K so soon after first using it. Win2K was too expensive, I was at uni at the time as I was when I got WinXP. I'm now finished with uni, no job and **** loads in debt... the last thing I'm gonna spend £100 on is a WinXP license. I need a whole lot of other things than to "do the right thing and have a legal Windows". If I got a discount by showing my win98 license, then I may think about spending say £50-£75 on it... £100 just seems too much when I can have it for free.

I just read back over the thread and found Stuy_b's post. I agree with what he says too... if we like it, we should pay for it. Maybe if it didnt cost us so much to buy it, then everyone would get the original. Audio cd prices have dropped, and with the opportunity to "try before you buy", sales of audio cds has risen. Just because cds are being copied and mp3s are easily available, the audio cd prices havent risen, so why does the windows always seem to cost more each time a new version comes out?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
