First : this is a FREE software. I'm not trying to sell anything. And since there is no competition (GSpot is more than outdated) this is not an "unfair" marketing.

IMO the "quality factor" function is useless, bits/pixel*frame is not even a rough indication of quality, and who's to say the source isn't crap to begin with an xvid encode could be 0.8 bits/pixel*frame, but a lot of good that does if its a VHS capture. only way to tell is by looking at it. if ANYTHING, it should be the PSNR

Yes but as a first approximation this factor can explain some user's complain about poor video files.

But you're right, for a better analysis, PSNR rules.
