Firebird Discussion

I've had this problem twice before.

It seems to happen when there are some major changes to the Firebird code. Try deleting the entire MozillaFirebird folder and unzipping the new build rather than just overwriting the old files. It worked for me both times. Don't worry - since you're not deleting the profiles folder, your bookmarks and setting will still remain even after you delete the old MozillaFirebird folder.

hi.

thanx for all the help.

first, a reboot didn't help

then, went to taskmanager, and indeed a mozilla .exe was running.

ended that, but no joy.'

now it's back up.

I'll end the process with taskmanager, then try a reboot to boot...(so to speak)

I'll post back later when I do the reboot

thanx again everybody

Sounds like a corrupt install... I had that happen as well. Do NOT delete or over-write the install, do a restore and it should clear it up. I did the bad thing of trying to reinstall then delete and reinstall and it just went "crapola". Did a restore to two or three days before and it all started workin again.

Within this thread, no one gives a toss what you think about browser X, this is to discuss Mozilla FireBird.

Hmm. What I do is copy my profile right back into the same application data folder so that I have "copy of phoenix". If anything goes wrong I have a backup profile. You can always just download another Firebird and use it with the profile. I never overwrite. I have several Firebird builds in my Program Files. I just rename them with the date such as: 20030925MozillaFirebird and move a new one in. One thing I do is copy/paste shockwave flash into plugins from the old version into new.

What do you mean by, "do a restore"?

I'd stay away from the newer builds though. Too many bugs.

Agreed. Last "good" build seems to be 20031017. No noticeable or major bugs here.

Finally upgraded to 0.7 today. Other than the issue on the front page here, I haven't had any problems and I'm enjoying it! :D

I managed to crash 0.7 a few times :\
The nighlty I'm using now hasn't let me down yet though :D

Find is broken in source window.:)

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031025 Firebird/0.7+

So it is :p
I just use type-ahead anyway, haven't used find in ages ;D

But type-ahead does't work in source window. sometimes I had to find again and again to search the links.

I feel such a dolt

what is "type aheaad"

and how do I get some of that?

When you're on a page, just start typing :)
If the text you're typing is found, it will be highlighted in green. First time I ever heard of it, I thought it was a stupid idea, now I can't live without it and do it in other apps by mistake :D

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
