If you turned zone alarm off before shutting down then that is not your problem. What I do is use a program called enditall then shut down. Be careful it is very powerful....but simple to figure out.
then there is something else thats making the shutdown slow..i just realised my problem was not on account of zone alarmbut the divx codec that had a gain_trikler service running.i thought it was zone alarm because that was the last thing i installed bfore the slowdown
I had the same problem and I changed to Sygate Personal Firewall and problem was gone. I wasn't running Divx on that machine either, so I know it couldn't have been that.
