I do respect the fact that he has made some major decisions that could cost him the next election, and that he made these decisions knowing full well what it could cost him. Because he is doing what he believes is right, not necessarily what is popular, I have great respect for him... this despite any opinion that I might have on the legitimacy of this war.

If you understand why the electoral college exists, then it sure wasn't evident by your post here. There is a good reason that the election isn't decided purely by the total number of votes each runner receives. The year 1840, literate people, or even smart people have nothing to do with why we should or shouldn't use the system.

oh I dunno bout that... his popularity rating has shot up due to the war... lots of polls were conducted prior to the war and during the first few days... and all showed his personal popularity not suffering... regardles of if he was really taking a break in camp david while our lads were off fighting... 🙂

it is not really the war that has my 'nad twisted up in a bunch... its his national policies.. mainly economic...

I don't think some of his domestic policies are for the better... obviously... seeing as how there are apparently no contigency plans... we allocate some 70-80 billion dollars (on the surface)extra to the war while @ the same time tryin to cut BILLIONS of dollars in tax breaks... I mean that makes no economic sense to me seeing what the situation is...

sure... it sounds good on the surface... everyone makes so much money or whatever... but if you truly look @ the situation.. only the rich few percentiles will receive MOST of the money.. while the poor make less...

dividing it over the entire population is all well and good... if it was equal like that...

it is generally the middle class that drives the economy with their purchases... the tax breaks are not targeted towards this demographic...

I understand your points here and the rationale behind them. Economics hasn't been my strong point, so I won't try to pretend that it is. There is a lot of money being tossed around with this war and with Bush's proposed budget, and I for one sure don't know what the right solution is concerning the money. I don't think that there is a solution that is absolutely best, and I imagine that many people who don't like Bush's proposal couldn't come up with a good solution themselves.

I know what it is and I know why it exists and the fact is it was made because they were afraid the average person of that day could not make an educated choice on who should be running the country the reps for our state don't even have to vote for what the majority of the people in that state vote for ohhh no they can vote for whoever they want, the only reason they don't is because they will loose there job if they don't who wants a rep that won't vote the way the majority did? Where in your brain does it make since that someone with 51% of the votes should get all our reps? Shouldn’t he get ummmm 51%?? Wouldn’t that be logical? I live in California and we have like 53 reps how can you condense a few million people into 53? How is that an accurate representative of a few million people? Do you know why a lot of people don't vote? because they KNOW there vote really doesn't have an effect on the out come of the elections also my 51% was prolly a little high considering a third party could take about 20 25% of the votes from both sides so then what? You got what 44% of the pop in a state voting for one man suuuure it may be the majority but ITS NOT EVEN HALF!! IMO they need to throw the electoral college out and let the people vote directly for themselves most people now a days are pretty intelligent (not all of them mind you) but more are educated then not 1 man 1 vote not 500,000 men 1 rep that’s just stupid.

THE WAR FOR TRUTH
WE HAD a great day," said Sgt Eric Schrumpf of the US Marines last Saturday. "We killed a lot of people."

He added: "We dropped a few civilians, but what do you do?" He said there were women standing near an Iraqi soldier, and one of them fell when he and other Marines opened fire. "I'm sorry," said Sgt Schrumpf, "but the chick was in the way".

Red Cross: Iraq Civilian Casualities Too High to Count ]
GENEVA - The number of casualties in Baghdad is so high that hospitals have stopped counting the number of people treated, the International Committee of the Red Cross said Sunday.

"No one is able to keep accurate statistics of the admitted and transferred war wounded any longer as one emergency arrival follows the other in the hospitals of Baghdad,'' the ICRC said in a statement.

"Ambulances are picking up the wounded and running them to the triage areas and on to hospitals,'' it said. "Some of the wounded try to reach the nearest hospitals by foot.''

There's a lot of talk today about chemical weapons being found. If this turns out to be true, and these are weapons that weren't supposed to exist, then what does this mean? For those who are opposed to this war, do you begin to change your mind, or do you think that the inspectors would have found them eventually? How significant will these findings be in terms of support for the war and favor for President Bush?

"Smoking gun" WMD site in Iraq turns out to contain pesticide

NEAR NAJAF, Iraq (AFP) - A facility near Baghdad that a US officer had claimed might finally be "smoking gun" evidence of Iraqi chemical weapons production turned out to contain pesticide, not sarin gas as originally thought.

I'm sorry but I have NO respect for the opinions of anyone who continues to whine about George Bush being President. Blame the system, blame the vote counters, and accuse Bush of cheating all you want... but doing these things makes you sound like kids yelling at the ref at a basketball game because of the call he made. 🙄

Read this carefully: IF I WANTED TO IMPLY SOMETHING, I WOULD SIMPLY STATE IT! Tell me where I said that I didn't respect anyone whose opinion I disagree with, if you can tell me that then I will put myself in the closet! Before people like you post a response, you need to read what is written on the page. I can't believe that I'm having to explain to you something that I so clearly stated. "I'm sorry but I have NO respect for the opinions of anyone who continues to whine about George Bush being President." Holy crap.

According to who? I mean its all propaganda, from both sides, the amount of made up rubbish that is twisted for the benifit of the governments is massive. They need to find something to justify the war, regardless of truth.

The first Gulf War we never heard about alive Iraqi soldiers being burried alive, but it happened.

We have had hardly any coverage about the Amercans firing on 2 surrendering Iraqi trucks and the ITV news crew.

We hear exactly what they want you to hear, everything else is pushed under the rug.

Yes but you then went on to quote two examples, both of which were anti American...

Yes / No?

do you have some time to read and to understand ?Read this http://www.drjeanette.com/terror.html

This was your reponse to a post asking "Bush hates the world?!?" I read this article, and now I'm curious as to how this wisdom from Doris Jeanette proves that Bush does in fact hate the world. Perhaps you have some great insight to share regarding this article, and so I'd like you to share it with us, instead of just posting a link.

It seems that many folk (myself included) don't relly want to hear people continually dissin' the Pres.

Didn't care for it when Clinton was Pres and don't care for it now either.

Right or wrong, agree or disagree, whatever.I am an Independent, not Democrat and not Republican.I have a great "laundry list" of things that I disagree very strongly w/Bush on.But I respect the office.

But all this "bashin",well ... it just gets old really fast, in my humble opinion. 😱
