The Really Long Thread

Woot, I can't wait to go home so I can fiddle with it more.

But then you don't get Glass even on machines that have the hardware to support it.
Meh. Fancy stuff is overrated. It's what functionality that O/S can offer that will enable me to decide if I want to use it. :)

I probably used the term Glass a little loosely. I didn't intend for it to mean just the translucent window borders effect itself. I was running Vista for 7 months with the "basic" UI on a laptop with a 16MB Radeon 7500, so I'm not in the least bit bothered by lack of "teh fanciness." :D

Maybe I should have referred to the Desktop Window Manager instead. The DWM offloads a lot of work to the GPU, leaving the CPU free to do more useful work. If you run Vista in a virtual-machine, none of it is hardware-accelerated, so there's a performance hit over and above the the already noticeable penalty associated with running it in a VM.

Basically, I'm just saying that running Vista in a VM won't be a very good indicator of what it's supposed to actually feel like on your machine. :)

played with it for a bit till it bluescreened :p

Not a bad first game to the World Cup. The real question: can anyone beat Brazil? :D

I have VISTA/XP/SERVER2K3 all running in VM's, they run quite nicely. You probably aren't allocating enough RAM, default levels don't cut it IMO.

So what were you doing when England were playing?
I sat outside making the most of the sun cause England games are usually dull and apparently it was but hubby stayed in to watch it.We won £50 cause he bet on a score of 1-0 to us.....oh yes oh yes

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
