Hmm, I just tried it and it seems to be working fine for me. Try to check something:
Tools > Options | 'Downloads' tab | 'Plug-ins' button. Do you see the Windows Media plugins listed, and are they enabled?

i just checked the same in ie ,the same message ,could it be a codec thing?

or could it be because ii have foxy tunes going?

So do you get the error message in the browser window or within WMP10?

there is no Windows Media plugins listed.
Hmm, since it doesn't show up in IE either, I'm thinking your best bet might be to just download the WMP10 installer and attempt a reinstall. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes anyway.

download the WMP10 installer -how do i do this?

in the meantime i downloaded realplayer (it needed a codac)
but it played, but in ie it says protocol not supported.

Bleauch - I just installed F-fox on another of my machines working towards standardising my browsing.... now this one had Mozilla beforehand.... at first I just had this teensy problemo on some links - they would still open Mozilla and not Firefox. Now this was nto any old browser links, in fact this seemed ONLY to be the links on KlipFolio....

I did a whole load of things I had done before (see this thread pages 19/20) to ensure F-fox was definitely the default browser, and eventually even resorted to uninstall of Mozilla (was nervous on that one)... Well - guess what? Now my Klipfolio links do not open at all! They are still there and I can copy the source and paste it into a firefox window and it navigates fine....

Anyone have any ideas how I messed this one up? I tried stopping and starting both Firefox and Klipfolio after my changes - and just to be certain I am going for a reboot (2nd time) but I expect the problem will remain.... (I'll edit or repost if any change)

Sounds like the file type association is messed up so see if you have an option to reset/associate them in your application or (if you know how) go into file types of folder options and change the extensions to what you want to use to open them.

well I just went through the extension associations - I could compare them readily with another machine where my klipfolio links fire up fine - the only change there was I could make was to edit the HTML and HTM extensions from IE to firefox.... but it did not change anything.

just to clarify, when I move the cursor over the link on the klipfolio item it changes to a hand icon - implying it will make a link and open browser, but clicking is inneffective... I do not think this is an extension/association problem now - more likely some problem arising from the uninstall of Mozilla somehow.

Anyone any more ideas? (Thanks for trying Zombie)
[EDIT] FOUND!

Doh! There is a Klipfolio setting - under peferences, general tab - somehow this got reset to null for how to open new links when Mozilla was removed, have set to FFox and all is well now
[/EDIT]

Is this T-bird or my POP3 server?

See attached screenie - if I use browser to access server I can get browser email client no problem.... so what is up with my password going through Tbird?

I first noticed this porting Tbird to laptop - then found it was a problem with ALL my Tbirds on every machine....

So I am guessing this is a POP3 server problem, but wondering what to do, just report to the provider I guess?

[EDIT] But the other thing is I recently added another router and although i did not need to change anything immediately I am wondering if any port forwarding might be required anywhere? [/EDIT]

[EDIT] OK OK another Doh! moment, this time went through the Yahoo T&C and discover the "YAhoo delivers mailings that I unsubscribed from yesterday are part of the T&C for being able to have POP3 service, so I have resubscribed and now hopefully Tbird can fly once more.... [/EDIT]

OK - I know I am becomign something of a pain on this thread, and have a nasty habit of Doh! moments where I answer my own questions.... - BUT

I am trying to make use of the junk mail filtering on Tbird - and it is set and there is junk mail in my inbox - but when I select it and use the tools pulldown to select "run junk mail filter on this folder" nothing happens! I have been into configure my junk mail controls - so it should be trashing my junk mail - also have set it to operate against the account I am using - anyone think of anything else I can do or should try? I hope someone else uses this! It was one of the things that took me to Tbird - although I have found I like it for other reasons too now it would be nice to have this also!

something not posted in here, thanks to Dave for pointing it out :D
i'm trying to think of a legit non porno use for it...........but cant
to make thumbnails of open dirs,

1) go bookmarks >> bookmark this page
2) call it gallery or something
3) open bookmarks + right click it, select properties
4) on the properties sheet for the bookmark change the location to:
javascript:var sHTML=%22<html><head><title>gallery</title><body><center><table border=0>%22;var y=0;for(x=0;x<document.links.length;x++){a=document.links[x].href; if (a.match(/jpe|jpeg|jpg|bmp|tiff|tif|bmp|gif|png/i)){sHTML+='<td style=%22border-style:solid;border-width:1px%22><a target=%22_new%22 href=%22'+a+'%22><img border=%220%22 width=%22100%22 src=%22'+a+'%22></a></td>'; if (!((x+1)%5)) sHTML+=%22</tr><tr>%22}};this.innerHTML=sHTML+%22</table></center></body></html>%22;

next time you goto an open dir, just click the bookmark + they will all be thumbnailed for you to click.

it actuly downloads the full pic, then thumbnails it btw ;)

Well this is the way mine is set up. Look it over and see if anything is different from your setup.

Have you trained the junk mail filter for at least a few days?
The Thunderbird junk mail filter uses a Bayesian system, so it learns from previous experience. If you've never trained it before, it might not be able to recognize and separate junk mail from legit mail. The way you train it after enabling the junk mail controls in the options is to manually mark any junk mail as junk, and unmark any legit mail that the filter marks as junk.
Within a week or so (depending on how much mail you receive), the Bayesian filter should begin marking junk mail on its own.

gonaads - my configuration is very similar to that, except I have 14 days rather than one for auto-deletion.

Netryder - I have been "training" but that is not the issue, my problem is not with Junk being identified so much as actioning the Junk when it had been! IE I have Junk, but it is sitting in my Inbox folders and does not get moved out to the (empty) junk mail folder - seemingly no matter what I try. Also I have now tried this on two different Tbird installations - desktop and laptop - so doubt it is install/config issue? But then what is it!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
