EDIT: I'm curious, why are there such varying speeds between the Comcast speeds posted? Are those just different plans?

Yes, they offer different speed tiers and the price may be different in some areas from what you see below.

Economy: $24.95 for 768/384 kbps.
Performance: 12/2 Mbps for $42.95 a month.
Blast: 16/2 Mbps for $52.95 a month.
Ultra: 22/5 Mbps for $62.95 a month. (Will update to 30/5 Mbps.)
Extreme Fifty: 50/10 Mbps for $139.95

Ultra and Extreme require a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.

^^ Not all those are available in all areas either. Like my area, at this time, only has a max of the blast tier. They are talking about increasing it to 32/4 here with in the next couple of months without a price increase.

Comcast contacted me and said they are doing something in my area which may affect connection.

So I did a speed test and this is the result:

They increased our speed here from 16 meg down to 20 meg down; and from 2 meg up to 4 meg up. without a price increase. I hear fiber is going to be coming soon, so that it probably the reason why. It could also be because of every one leaving for the 4g network with their cell phones.

I usually use Speedtest.net -> Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test.

I do like the Xfinity Speed Test also.

Rogers Cable in Ontario Canada. They actually have two more faster services than mine.

My comcast goes up to 150 meg down and 10 up here also. I have 20 meg down and 4 meg up right now.

I was talking to a couple of Verizon guys today and they were saying that Fios is going to be rolled out here by the fall. I told him with the rate comcast is going, they will have speeds the fios won't be able to compete with.

He also made the point I made about 4g. Everyone is dumping there land connection and going with that.I told him that if they didn't have a teir on it, I would gobble it up. But with the way it is now, I would be paying $1,000 a month for my internet bill lol.

I looked at Verizon fios also, and the price is actually more than cable. Plus they put restriction on your service. Like throttle torrents, youtube, and pandora.

I look for comcast to do that soon here. They are rolling the faster speeds out like crazy.
