Sex Dialer

I plead the 5th

Well whatever we canucks pleade when we want to get out of a jam seeing as we dont have a 5th I will borrow the americains for now LOLOL :p :p

Hi,

Thanks for your replys. There is no dial up connection and it's still not found as a virus. I've actualy restored my system to an earlier time and seem to have got rid of it now.

These things are so annoying and I think they should be classed as viruses. How do I get something submitted as a virus?

Re;Sex Dialer

Sgt Banjo, same deal as me but all my restore files have been deleted.
Getting very pissed off now my 6 yr old daughter will be quite happily playing on the Disney website and up pops, wellyou can guess.
Not only that but the web pages are extremely graphic.
Any body else got any ideas?

re:

The dialer is somewhere in your c:\windows\system32.
Try to search there.
Also check msconfig start>run> "msconfig" and then the tab startup

If it;s called in there you can see where the file is

Tried MSConfig mate. I think there is some unnamed file somewhere that simply calls for IE to go to a certain web page which then prompts you to download the dialler etc... As it is IE which is accessing the net, I can't see how we will find the proggy unless there is some kind of trace program we can run which will show what programs have been run. i.e.

Startup machine
Run trace program
Wait until pop ups appear
Check trace for what has happened?

Don't know if this is possible, it certainly sounds feasible. Any help anyone?

look for this

ok here is a long shot i found that my puter did the same thing a ways back it was something called openme.exe and it was installed to C/windows it was the cause of the ie to pop open some german porn site if I remember correctly...if you do a search and remove it from windows when you boot up you get an error saying cant find openme.exe now at the time I did not care to waste hours finding the what for about it so I did this simply delete that openme.exe and made a dummy openme.exe (a text blank text) and changed the extentsion to .exe and placed it in windows , and it all stopped so here is my dummy openme.exe you can verify the openme.exe by changing the name to openme.txt and you will see it is a blank.txt and use that it if you find that you have indeed the openme.exe in windows now. good luck hope it fixes it for you;)

Thanks Kermit, I'm sure the guy who is still having problems will appreciate that. I'll bear it in mind If I ever have the trouble again

Hope it worked for him

Anytime I got 3 tadpoles (kids) and dont like this kinnda sh*t going on!! took me a little while to figure what it was I believe I saw the openme.exe running in processes and did a search and found that in my c\windows and looked at it and figured it was some 3rd party crap that was installed onto my system I think it came from the same old crappy exe that was spose to be a game from kazza I just dont remember was a while back but reading the posts here it triggered a memory spark anyways hope this does the trick if it is not the famous openme.exe open your task manager and look at it carefully watching for the ones that are using cpu's and you should see it I really cant remember all the details on how I figured it out but I remember I spent a good amount of time trying to, I dont recall ever seeing it in msconfig and I did search the reg with regedit but it was a pain in the as* ok well enough about the most read post over the last few days LOLOL and I again pleade the 5th as to why it was ever on this puter in the first place hahahahaha :p

Hey, I know how to fix it ! RE-INSTALL !!!!!!!

:D
:D
:D

Hey I had something like this happen to me. Found it in my add/remove . I would remove it but it always came back. Then I took and look at my default home page under tools Internet Option. Well what happen is this thing whatever it was put a link in there that would re-download this thing but would still open my default page.... I cleared the line and the removed it again ........check that out !!!!!

Worked for me !!!!

look for the "name".exe of that prog
usually it will settle in .\windows\system32

look for new.application and save.now in add/remove

remove them if they are there :)

i had the same prob and removing these fixed it (i think as i did do a number of other things) ..... these programs are installed when installing kaaza and cause nothing but trouble!

if it aint broke then it is no fun at all!

Fixed:i think

got a lovely little proggy called Ie Guard that has stopped the pop ups, diabled me web bugs and cleared out cookies that IE couldnt hopefully sorted prob out.
Will keep u posted!!!!!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
