printer troubles help

help i need to print off my son's homework and my printer has just stopped working. It is displaying a communication error but it is connected and nothings changed.In control panel printers it is showing offline HELP

Right Click on the primter icon and untick "use printer offline" and see if that does it.

No still comes up with communication error please check connection

Is the printer still set as the default printer? Is it connected via USB or other? If USB, have you tried unpluging it and plugging it back in? Just trying to cover the bases.

yes it's set at default and i have tried unplugging the usb and turning the power on and off

there is only one printer so it just has the tick in it
