[omg its nlm]

I think we need a torrent!

[NetRyder]

Same problem as before. The wireless connection here in my room can't handle uploads very well (heh...even downstream is rather unreliable, actually).

I can go down to campus and upload the ~95MB ZIP file to my OSNN webspace. I don't want it to kill the server though, so I'll PM about 5 of you with the download link, and once you have it, I'll take it down and you guys can start a torrent.

So who wants first access? 🙂 Please put down your name only if you can seed the file after you get it.

[omg its nlm]

I cant till late tonight 🙁

[NetRyder]

I won't be uploading it until later tonight anyway.
If you can start seeding tomorrow morning, that works too.

[Geffy]

if someone can get a torrent of it together then let me know and I will seed it on my server

not done trackers or made torrents before so cant really help with that. If you want to give me a link netryder I can pull it over to my server and pass out links for it on that. Servers not really doing much else at the moment

[LordOfLA]

If you send to me and tell me how to seed a torrent I can seed at 100mbit for a few hours 😀

How does that sound?

Edit: I can also host it on the henypron server so that Heny wont feel guilty so much 😀

[NetRyder]

Geffy, Lord: Sounds good. 🙂

This might be helpful...not done something like this myself, so I don't know:

[sean.ferguson]

On BSD use the official bittorrent source...

then its a simple:

./btdownloadcurses.py /path/to/torrent.torrent

[LordOfLA]

dont torrents need trackers at all? if so who's going to track it?

[LordOfLA]

ah I foudn the bitcommet tracker
can track myself it would seem

[Geffy]

I use rtorrent under screen to do torrenting

[LordOfLA]

well one of us needs to decide who's tracking 😛

I can sede at 100mbit regardless so who tracks is a moot point - we just need to decide who does it.

[Geffy]

I am pokin about looking for some tracker software, I might have found something, going to see if I can get it setup. will get myself on irc though

[Grandmaster]

Can't you use torrents that don't require a tracker now? I think I read that somewhere.

[American Zombie]

I know of BNBT EasyTracker for Windows.

[NetRyder]

Ok, the file has been uploaded, and I've sent the link to Geffy and LordOfLA.
Anyone else want to donate some bandwidth? 😀

[sean.ferguson]

sure send it here

[NetRyder]

sure send it here

Done. 🙂

[LordOfLA]

I'll have a direct http download for you in ~10 minutes.

Geffy and I will organize a torrent later tonight hwen I'm at work 😀

[LordOfLA]

Okay here's the direct download link 10mbit I will cap it if too many people are leeching with download managers 🙂
