i have xp home, is there a way to password protect a folder? thanks!

I was wondering that myself.

any help is appreciated 😀

convert to ntfs then rt click the folder and there you go 😀

i don't see why it wouldn't...go to a cmd prompt and type convert /? and see if you have fs:ntfs should work....I thought the only difference was the admin crap and security features...

I don't think XP home can do password folders for this is no Use simple file sharing option to tick or untick, as referenced by the guide you linked to and theres no password option on the sharing tab. i do have ntfs

you can add a password to compressed folders though

its actually a feature of the Home edition to NOT have this feature.
The idea being to make an OS thats simpler to maintain in a non security conscious environment.

nope

Home NTFS does not provide file security Xp pro NTFS does..

this is alittle work around until this gets figured out...create a folder in my docs and give it a hidden attrib and then you can put all your porn in there and just show all files when you want to get to the folder.😀
