Ok, I give up.

The servicegui app is not doing the job for me in vista.

I can configure everything, one app to each core and run it in console mode but it is NOT running as an automatic service 🙁

I used the same procedure I did under XP and it just does not work.

Advice? How do I set these buggers to automatically start as background services?

I'm way too tired to the research myself right now.

-edit-

Issue fixed, disregard.

Was easy as pie, I was just too tired to see it lol.

Sorry for so many posts one after the next 🙂

I have updated the Multi-core F@lding App in my signature.

It no longer points to the older 502 F@lding unit, its the newer 504.

Also, the team name defaults to 35216 and it defaults to 2 instances and automatically being added as services. You don't have to change those settings.

The only things you still have to do is change the CPU usage (I set 95% max), priority and user-name as well as what folder you want to be using (it should default to c:\folding1 and folding2 for each core).

I fiddled around with Kunal's app and got it looking smaller but I would prefer the programmer himself do the honors 🙂

I haven't really programmed in years and I don't want to kill anyone's rig lol.

Also, fyi, the SMP app on the F@H stanford homepage is currently borked.

Cool Saz, I'll download the upgrade and spread throughout my farm. Thanks for pre-configuring the options too 😉

Would have been sneaky of you to put Sazar in there 😉

-edit-

I will update my sig in a min so we aren't pointing to two different versions. I wonder if this one will be detected as a virus too, does the srvany.exe have the same MD5?

It probably does, I didn't change the app itself.

And yes, it DID have my name in there once I went through the config 😉

But I changed it.

Btw, do you know if once the servicegui has run, if there is a way to change the cpu utilization? I'll keep looking but I'm not sure if I saw that option anywhere.

I'm not sure that you can, I think you'd have to install over or remove/re-add the service to adjust that. Could be wrong though.

I just installed your app, there is a file missing that it won't install without, INSTSRV.EXE - I had it still from the old client, I slapped it in the directory and it was able to go. Might want to fix that, I have attached it incase you don't have it.

Woo, go team. We are over 17k a day - let's keep it up!!!

Must be tdinc's PS3 !

We are close to 18k I think.

Next week, if I am lucky, my 1950 will be here and that baby SHOULD fold better than ps3's 🙂

Was looking over the Active Team stats, looks like we have a handful of NVnews people really chipping in 😀

I was loooking at getting a 1950. Either that or getting another USB wireless NIC and getting my server farm going again.

So they can connect to the internet. They are in a lab environment only, unfortunately.

Is this then circumventing some pre-defined security? Don't want to see you get in trouble 😱

Only in as much as if we configured DHCP (for instance) on the server and then connected it to one of our switches, that we wouldn't want that DHCP server to start leasing addresses to the live network.

Saz - question.

Are we not to use the -advmethods flag anymore?

Not necessary.

The various flags can be used as needed depending on procs but it is not a necessary component afaik.

Let me know if you hear otherwise. I haven't used it since I moved from my northwood proc.

On a side note, we're fast approaching 20k a day guys 😀

WELL DONE !!!

Nice 🙂

Also, guys, swing over to the NVNEWS thread and let the guys know we appreciate the team effort from the new lads 😎
