I just signed into msn messenger and it says there is a new version. Anybody know what is new? cause if there isnt anything big bout the new version i wont bother downloading it.

NVM...... I guess this update has been out for awhile.

why's it telling me to update when i've got the latest version?

🙄

😕 same here. I installed it anyway. My version number is now 6.1.0207.

Got it nagging me to do it too, so I just pressed okay. Besides, it took like 10 seconds.

ya but what exactly is different between the version i had previously 6.1.0203 and 6.1.0207? security update? i haven't noticed anything.

o so i was right. I have dial up so i unno if i want to update.

I've got 6.0.0602 (obviously a bit old) and it isn't asking me to update!

to find out what is new about an MSN Messenger Update, its not too hard to hit the "What's New" button on the update reminder dialogue.

this takes you to a page informing you that the 6.1.0203 > 6.1.0207/0211 fixes a security issue reported to M$.

Those with Messenger 6.0 are unnaffected, as this is a different, older version and thus does not require the security update. I would advise anyone using MSN to keep the most current version, to prevent the spread of viruses (although it could be argued that it promotes them, since the new update is a security fix 😉 )
