i have just bought a hp pavillion dv9700 and down graded it to xp but i cannot get the ethernet to work can any one help

I would think that xp would have a default eathernet driver built in. Everytime I downgraded; I never had to get a driver for it ... It's strange that yours would do that. It's almost like it's a lite version or something. Or maybe it's a version that has been altered to remove some things ...

What it could be is a oem version for another pc ???
