Hi,
Anybody know of a popular, completely free POP3 email service?
Hotmail sucks.

Thank you

yahoo
netscape
google (sort of, search for and read security issues with their new plan)

I have a Yahoo account to receive my spam. Had it for years, works great.

Hotmail sucks ? Nope !
Works like a charm when the right options are selected.
Only grief, the lack of (free) space, 2Mb is not enough...

yup spymac

Spymac's free membership includes:
1 GB e-mail account, 350 MB combined storage, personal blog, forum, gallery, auctions and more, Spymac agrees with the staff at Google that a 1 GB e-mail account makes sense. Millions of people rely on easy access to mail and depend on their email service to not indiscriminately delete important mail. Spymac Mail offers several advantages over other free Internet-based email. In addition to the one-gigabyte storage increase, Spymac Mail also offers both POP3 and Webmail access to the email accounts. For those wondering why on earth they would need one gigabyte for POP3 mail, don’t despair; because IMAP mail capabilities are under development and will be available very soon. Spymac Mail does not utilize keyword scanning and advertising.

Spymac welcomes email accounts from users 13 years old and up on any operating system. Sign up for your free account today by clicking here .

Good sales pitch - have to give it a try.

uuh.... this topic hasn't had any activity in quite a while.... but what exactly is the info that one would need to set up Outlook to access a spymac account?

I have a spymac account but the only drawback is that's it's sooooooo slow someday's

I don't class hotmail or Yahoo as Pop mail. Outlook/OE recognise them as http email accounts.

They had a lot of trouble when they introduced the "free 1gb" thing, as it went live straight away with no (real) testing, so thousands and thousands of users flocked to the site and joined up just for the mail. I joined up a while ago, yet haven't actually used any of the stuff they give you :p

I joined a few weeks ago and haven't bothered with the other stuff yet either :D

I joined SpyMac a few weeks ago mainly for my Yahoo groups ... SpyMac won't let Yahoo group email go through

This is temporary because there were a few individuals who attempted to damage the system by attempting to overload it with Yahoo Group subscriptions.

The big question is though, can ne of the mentioned accounts be configured to a desktop e-mail application like outlook or mailwasher, them being free. Usually you gotta pay monies for this service.

Sounds interesting... has google opened their 1GB acounts to public yet? Or is it still beta?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
