external dvd burner

if i get an external dvd burner do i have to do anything to my current cd-rw drive. cause i dont think u can have a dvd-rw and a cd-rw on the same comp if they arent the same drive. thanks in advance.

what made u think that! thats not true. thats like saying u cant have firewire and usb at the same time or have a dvd rom and a cdrom if the cd rom isnt the dvd rom
