If you want to find out all the programs you use open a dos window, go to your root directory
CD\
then type
dir *.exe /s/w >myprogs.txt
Open the file with wordpad (it will probably be too big for notepad). Note the /w produces a condensed directory listing. The /s tells it to read all the subdirectories and the > is an output redirection from the display to a file so you can browse them at your leisure. Note this is 1000's of times faster than a windows search.
I'd post my results but it's over 100kB.
On the amusing side AVG turned up a trojan in my_documents when I first tried the windows search tool. I'll be away for a while doing multiple virus scans.
