Hey thanks for that. It's all valuable information.

I discovered what I was doing wrong - the drop down menu was a javascript form instead of a html style menu system- ie using the div tag.

Now I have cascading menus to common programs at the click of a button ! (just experimenting with all this mind you )

I also had to rediscover how to link the button/text to execute a program file : ie a href="file://c:\windows.......program.exe". It's all good.

What happened to the zip file for Mooz's active desktop from Dec last year ??

I was curious to have a look. It seemed to wow the forum readers but I couldnt see any pics or the zip file which was supposed to be included.

ok, is there a way 2 just have a small active desktop window and have the icons look fine?

cause mine have blue outline which doesnt look nice

and i dont want the whole desktop to be active desktop, cause i always rightclick etc etc

Yes, you can resize the active desktop to whatever size you want, it does not have to be fullscreen.

the icons on the desktop, have the background color around them and it doesnt look right

umm, get new icons, or don't put your icons on the active desktop part. I really don't see how you can't solve this.

Post a pix of what you mean....not sure I understand the "blue outline" Do you mean under the text? around the whole icon??

There's no way around that when using active desktop. What I've done in the past is create a new "icon" as a gif or png image and incorporate it into the web page file as a link to the item you want.

A bit clunky for a solution, but it can be very elegant depending on how creative you are in your use.

go into the display control panel and set your desktop background to none with a black color

Yes, now looking at it I would do what j79zlr has said, put background to none, and make the color match.

I'm sure it has been posted before, but I could not find it in all these pages, so I'll just ask.

2 Problems with the quicknotes:

1) Every once in a while, a prompt comes up that says "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe......Do you want to allow this interaction?"
How do I disable this?

2)When I save the quicknotes, the IE window pops up with a "Page not found" screen, and never goes away. What is causing this?

Ive got a problem with the notebook thing.

Whenever I click save (I change it to a button) an IE window comes up with an ActiveX dialog that asks me if I want to run it or not. It opens the IE window with the notebook thing. When I close the IE window (I didnt write anything there) it doesnt save the stuff that I wrote in the file.

I DID change the location of the file to a new one.

Any ideas?

i cant get the program launching and the notebook thingie to work with mozilla firebird when i click on a launch link or the save link it doesnt do anything.
