OSNN Adverts

Hmm.. is this the stupid smiley face ad? I've clicked on that thing a thousand times (using mozilla) and then just close the site. :eek:

*edit* - also I would like to add that anyone using IE clicking on anything other then things they know is 100% safe is just asking for trouble.

Ok, I think I have finally got the talking ads sorted... I have completely disabled Burstmedia served audio ads for the forums... but not the frontpage... they will stay on there. And in teh future, all audio ads will automatically be disabled from the forums.

I'm getting these ads on the forums, and I'm about to pull my hair out!

Have you used IE6 SP2?

For the Firefox users: try out Flashblock. Unlike Adblock, this extension will only prevent Flash from loading. The banners will then play only if/when you click on them.
That way you can still see and click regular banner ads to help the site, but you don't have to see the annoying talking ads, which are exclusively Flash-based.

i got a touch phone speaking ad:

Code:
<!-- BEGIN RICH-MEDIA BURST! CODE -->
<script language="JavaScript">
rnum=Math.round(Math.random() * 100000);

document.write('<scr'+'ipt src="http://www.burstnet.com/cgi-bin/ads/ad10786b.cgi/v=2.0S/sz=728x90A/'+rnum+'/RETURN-CODE/JS/"></scr'+'ipt>');

</script>
<noscript><a href="http://www.burstnet.com/ads/ad10786b-map.cgi/ns/v=2.0S/sz=728x90A/" target="_top">
<img src="http://www.burstnet.com/cgi-bin/ads/ad10786b.cgi/ns/v=2.0S/sz=728x90A/" border="0" alt="Click Here"></a>
</noscript>
<!-- END BURST CODE -->

I doubt that helps much. Or mabey it does.

It is the innovage touchphone.

When clicked on it goes to: https://www.asseenontvnetwork.com/vcc/allstar/lcdphone/121492/

I have now verified that Focus Interactive (the advertiser for the casalemedia screensaver/smilie adverts) have recently amended their EULA with respect to the transmission of personal information (though this has still not been reflected in 3rd party security reports). It should be safe to display those adverts. The EULA does in fact mention the item in Add/Remove in the Control Panel as well as the installation of the BHO.

Sorry to have alarmed you guys but it all seems legit and is NOT spyware :)

If your using IE and having problems with the ads install the IESPYAD reg file, this will not stop the ads from displaying but will stop the installation of ActiveX controls and will also block any tracking cookies from the provider.

Thanks for that Enyo - it's been ages since I last saw you :D Good to see ya round :)

Yes (for windows update). :p They have made IE even more useless trying to make it secure. I'm glad they are trying but they have killed IE IMHO, the day for Mozilla has begun.

Even as a Firefox advocate, I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

Well IMHO it has. The few sites (housecall,ect.) I have used it on have been more a pain the arse then before. I would also advocate against Firefox and say use Mozilla Suite (SeaMonkey). :p

There was actually an ie popup?

Eh? I was using Firefox, opened it, right clicked and used get info. This was at school.

Once again:

If I don't allow
2:49:04 PM firefox.exe TCP adsvr.adknowledge.com 8000 Block Once
- then I will immediately receive a port scan from adknowledge.com and will effectively shut down my browser due to Outposts attack detection setting to block intruder (I will have to disable the feature or allow the ad) - BUT then it will go as far as this!! (using other IP's to mask?) for instance techzonez does not even use adknowledge.com - yet, somehow adknowlege is using the name to mask a port scan.

Is there a solution besides disabling or do I have to allow the ad? Maybe i'm doing something wrong?

2:51:37 PM Attack was detected Port Scanning has been detected from www.techzonez.com (scanned ports:TCP (2130, 2125, 2127, 2131, 2129, 2123))
2:51:37 PM Attack was detected Port Scanning has been detected from gfxoasis.com (scanned ports:TCP (2102, 2098, 2099, 2105, 2101, 2103))
2:51:36 PM Attack was detected Port Scanning has been detected from forum.osnn.net (scanned ports:TCP (2110, 2115, 2113, 2109, 2111, 2107))
2:43:19 PM Attack was detected Port Scanning has been detected from www.adknowledge.com (scanned ports:TCP (1354, 1357, 1356, 1350, 1353, 1349))

I only receive this popup at this site (only one tab open in firefox). Allow once = popups repeatedly asking for permission - everytime you refresh - Deny or close rule = instant port scan

well I know both techzonez and we use both burst and google ads.

Hmm.. this has got me interested now. I had upgraded to Mozilla 1.8a4 and was getting DoS warnings while surfing and I couldn't figure out what site was causing it (serveral did actually). This along with an odd draggin scroll bar while loading bug that caused Mozilla to crash caused me to revert back to 1.8a3. All is good now .. no more crashes and no more "DoS attacks". I wonder if this is a problem with this advertiser for real or if perhaps this problem has also found it's way into FireFox?

All I know is I tried reloading each site then eliminating tabs. This site was the only one that produced that popup, immediately, with every reload.
