I use Southwestern Bell's DSL service. The way I had to get WINXP to work with the DSL Hardware was to create a sort-of virtual dial-up connection. You double click the short cut to the dialer and then it opens a connection to the DSL line...verifies the password and then you are online and running.
I have noticed that since I started using SBC's DSL service that my boot-up times are taking so long. The desktop will come into view and then the hourglass will be on there for a good 60 seconds before you can double click the connect to DSL icon. Is the reason that it is taking so long to boot up is that it is trying to see if there is a valid connection to the internet? Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?
