Some simple tips:

My home machine is used as a DAW, and I have it formatted to NTFS. NTFS has some very nice features (compression, security, etc.) which I like. The question is why wouldn't you want to format to NTFS (maybe you are dual-booting?).

Turn off any extra services that you don't need, they consume memory, CPU cycles and can cause timing issues with MIDI/Audio @see: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Hardware tips, your mileage may vary. I have no idea what you are using.

cheers,

jsitke 🙂
