I did a fresh install of xp pro last night. I left my pc on to download and install updates, come back in the morning and it isn't done! Windows finishes download the 86 MB updates, and the installation progress bar is comepelety full. However, the Windows does not tell me to restart my pc, or that it's done installting the updates. I've tried updating by only downloading 5 updates at a time, same thing happens. Anyone here have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Looks like you have a date with the troubeshooter

Pay attention to the Problem Downloading/Installing a Software item section. Few thing to try.

Give this a shot to:

Please re-register the following files:
regsvr32 msscript.ocx
regsvr32 dispex.dll
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll

1. Click "Start," and then click "Run."
2. Type regsvr32 msscript.ocx in the "Open" box and click "OK."
3. Repeat for dispex.dll,vbscript.dll, and scrrun.dll.
You could also use that software everyone here likes. The name escapes me but give the forum a search and something will pop up.

Ep, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there https://tinyurl.com/ycpxl
