i had to restore my system, xp pro, to an earlier date and now when i try to open Windows Media Player i get this message:

"the file wmp.dll has a version number of 9.0.0.2980 where 9.0.0.3075 was expected. Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled."

before going to microsofts website do i have to uninstall Media Player on my system first? done in the add/remove programs in the control panel.

ok, i'm not tech savy but any info will be appreciated. thanks in advance. :)

just go get the installer and run it again, thats all you need to do :)

i just downloaded Media Player again. after it downloaded it told me to exit Media Player (i didn't have it running to begin with) and other applications for the set up wizard. i closed everything out and continued with the set up but i still get the same message when i try to open Media Player.

never mind that last post of mine. i got it running! thanks Gonzo...much appreciated! :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
