I've noticed on Windows 2000 and XP that the folders do no update, even pressing F5 won't help. The only way is to close the window and reopen explorer or I click on a file in the file list and then the folder list gets updated.

Could this be a network problem?

I'm not following the question...f5 refreshes the browser page, is that what you're talking about?

ok here's how to recreate the problem

turn on hidden and system files

open windows explorer and go to documents and settings

click on the user that you've logged on as

now turn off the hidden and systems files

notice the right side updates but the left side doesn't

Hey, Nobby! I hear ya!

I had the SAME EXACT problem about a month ago. I have one machine running as a 'download box' and out of the blue if I did anything (ie. create a folder, delete a file, etc.) on a folder on that machine the window WOULD NOT UPDATE! If I renamed a folder, it would behave like I didn't actually do it! I never figured it out and I've since restaged both machines - but yer not crazy, the problem exists!

oh I'm crazy but not totally

I think it's a bug

but you know what, this all started to happen after I updated the systems about 4 months ago.

Nobby - it ain't you

Hey - my problem started after NO updates. It isn't you - it's a bug. Software releated - not hardware.
