windows explorer problem

When using windows explorer I move or delete a file or directory and find that I am unable to open any other folders or do anything else until I close and reopen explorer. When it stops responding I get strange icons coming up on the left, like trees, and at the bottom of my drives list there appears to be an infinite number of unknown icons. I would prefer not to have to reinstall and when I checked there were no restore points. This is a fairly new install(2 weeks). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You say you are moving and deleting files, have you deleted any system files.
What do these unknown icons look like.
Can you take a screen shot and post it.

Be care ful of what you delete and move...you might corrupt system files and mess up your comp!
