or any database system, pgsql selects latin1 as its default, should i keep it as this or change it to utf8 (mind you i have had issues with uft8 dbs in the past).

Or is it a case of it knows what its doing and to go with the flow

edit: after a few tests im going to go with the pgsql default option

I primarily work with Rails now and tend to use the UTF8 encoding with PostgreSQL, not had any issues with that yet.
ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xf673656e - is what i get from time to time with different web based scripts, different values - under latin1, i don't get those errors, and after a bit of reading latin1 contains utf8 so im fine, i don't get this under mysql though

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
