It means that you are not subscribed to any threads

subscribed means posts in a thread.. you should be subscribed now because you have made this thread and even posted in it. It just helps you let you know what thread you have joined and so you can keep tabs on them easier

What happened to the email notification we used to get when someone posted in a thread we had posted in?

At the bottom of each thread there is a button that says 'subscribe to this thread'. If you subscribe you receive an email every time someone replies to that specific thread.
