Update question

There was no update for Ad-aware 6.0 when I read this forum. I updated my reference file manually using the link given by Wadada. I tried the "check for updates" button and it said there was a new regerence file available
Build or150 05.07.2003 Date 05.07.2003

This makes no sense. However I noticed that the new reference file was dated 09.04.2004 and the date on my computer is 04.09.2004. Since Lavasoft is in Sweden and uses the European system and I'm in the US and use the dumb system, is the updating system confused. My date is in the future in the European dating system. But shouldn't it still give me the latest update?

On the other hand, I'm using the free version. Is the update for the paying customers?

That's because the update is for build 181 and higher.

Please Note Build 181 is now available! This download is for use with build 181 and higher only. Support is no longer available for previous builds and reference files.

Oh and they put the day before the month and then the year.


But back to your problem.

I had the same problem with the computer at work. It has build 151 so the AdAware proggy does not recognize the new ref file. But if you manualy install it it works. And it will scan with the new ref file. But I just updated it to the newest build.

I don't know if they (Lavasoft) are doing this so everyone upgrades to the newest or what. I seriously think it could be to thwart anyone that has an illegal copy of AdAware 6 Pro. since most of the illegal builds out there are of build 151.


But this is what I think it could be.

I have a legit copy of AdAware 6 pro build 181. So it doesn't affect me.

If you have the free version check the build or just update it or D/L the newest free version.
