The Really Long Thread

Sorry for having taste. But come on, would you seriously buy that luminous green ****-pile?
yeah just for fun I would probably go that ugly green over the blue 😛

I'll have either.
If it worth buying then who cares about colour? 😀

In a heatbeat... Soooooo, gimmy money sozz I can buy one, errrrr two of'em. 😀

Plus when I show up at a LAN party with mean green and you show up at same time with iBook they'll all go "ooooooo" and "aaaaaaaah" and "lemmy see it, lemmy see it" at mean green and some will look at yer iBook and say "nice iBook" and then go "lemmy see it, lemmy see it" back at my mean green. 😛

I want pizza 🙁

Reminds me of a saying a friend told me once about pizza.

"Pizza is a lot like sex. When it's good, it's really good. When it's bad, it's still pretty good."

😀

SPeedY_B it's not what it looks like on the outside it's what's inside that counts 😉

never benn told that? 😀 😛

Plus... 🙄 😀
Funny that. Why is it that 2,200 G5 chips running at 2.0GHz can pull 17,600 gigaflops (8 Gigaflops/Chip), and 2,500 Pentium4 Xeon chips running at 3.06GHz, which I'm sure you'll agree is a big clock speed difference, and note 300 more units, can only pull 15,300 gigaflops (6.12 GigaFlops/Chip).. and being made by dell isn't an excuse 😛 😀

supercomputers are fun 🙂

anyway, must dash, work and such.

what about AMD? 🙂

There's an Opteron based machine in the top 10 supercomputers.
2,816 chips clocked at 2.0GHz pulls 11,264 gigaflops, quite a poor 4 gigaflops per chip o_0

It's listed at No.6

And isn't AMD still new to the super computer game.

Plus ya got in 5th place an Itanium2 1.5GHz, 1936 of them pushin 11,616 gigaflops

That's 6 gigaflops per chip. And they are only runnin at 1.5 GHz not 2GHz like the G5.

But then we could argue this nonsense forever... so, who cares. 😛

interesting so when are we going to get single chips that do 10 gigaflops alone? Well still semi useless info but interesting

super computer info useless ... pfffft 😛 that G5 cluster VT has is so sweet though and would be great for crunching out UD workunits.

They don't have it anymore. It got (or will be getting?) broken down. Each unit is being sold off at a nice price, and the VT-Supercomputer will be made up of Xserves instead. Saving a LOT of space and dropping the electricity bill a substantial amount.

hey I did say semi useless. So anybody know what kind of super computer DARPA has?

I guess nobody in Az has a supercomputer though the school near where I live is supposed to have one of the best info regarding anthrax
