in the task bar control panel, where it gives you the option
to hide inactive icons, or always hide?, it shows past items?
hope you with me so far? it has items in there that are nolonger on my computer, is there a way you can delete these obsolete
items? some of these have been off my pc for ever, it just keeps building up.😕

i am with you and i did go and check that out on my system and i see the same thing. programs that ive uninstalled along time ago are listed under past idems, but i think xp just lists them under there just in case you reinstall the program(s). then it will remember your settings for that icon.
