startup menu changes, help

ok this is my third day with XP

when i run msconfig and remove something from the startup
and restart computer i get a pop up that say you have changed windows start mode and to change back to get rid of the pop up.

also i keep getting a pop up that say you or some program is trying to contact (some site.com)

is there anything i can do about this??

As for the first window just tell it to cope and disable the warning in the box. As for some program contacting some site...you'd have to be more specific, is this your firewall telling you this? or windows. and what program and site does it say is trying to be contacted?
