shut down problem

please help ive just installed xp pro but when i shut down the computer shuts down i get the (its safe to turn the computer off) then the computer stays on the fans running when i had 98 and me on the computer turned its self of i have to hold the power button for six seconds now to get it to switch of and its doing my head in thanks😱

You gotta make sure ACPI/APM is enabled in your bios, and then make sure everything is set right under your power options in control panel. then it should shut off for ya 🙂

😉 All you have to do is go to control panel,power options,apm tab and check the enable advanced power managment support box and your computer should shutdown automaticly.🙂
