I was working on a clients laptop, had to remove an infected symantec ...

Noticed that the Welcome centre oobe had this and techguys and some other junk they could do without....

So I have editted the relevant (244?) info.xml file in the oobe directory and taken out the xml <task> ... </task> components, deleted the directories for the products, deleted the icons.... even deleted the symantec and techguys registries...

BUT the components are still showing up in the welcome centre.... (albeit without icons now!).

Anyone else know the missing ingredient? I'm guessing a cache somewhere, but thought I'd ask here.

Not going to spend more time - so shall disable welcome centre also, but this sort of thing I like to get right. I know the question is already history and it is all Windows seven.... But maybe someone knows this one.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
