Which program you wanna remove from systray?
generally right click the icon on the systray and go to properties and close it or disable it.

Or, in most programs, that place an icon in systray, there is an option within the Preferences of the program to delete the icon from systray.

Or, the fact that there is an icon in systray, usually means that the program is starting at bootup. In this case you can remove the icon by disabling the program in msconfig.

Here is a handy little applet that adds your start up menu to the control panel. Then you simply uncheck those porgrams that you don't want in your tray.
