Has anybody used the remote assistance feature?? If so, do you find it terribly slow (its essentially useless). I have some friends that dont know what they are doing with windows at all and i am constantly getting requests to "fix stuff". It would be a lot easier if i could use the remote assistance feature as it was designed. I have a pIII 733 with 384MB ram and XP home and my friend has a pIV 1.7 with 256MB ram and xp home. We are both on 5mbps cable and within 5KM of eachother (btw my old problem with slow messenger transfer speeds was my imagination....different person anyways). Anyways...I needed to do something for my friend last night and we tried the remote desktop feature and it takes 10 seconds after a click for something to happen (stuff as simple as scrolling). In the remote desktop setting, the quality is set to normal, not high. There must be something i can do to make this a useful feature of XP. I guess I should mention that our upload speeds are capped at 500kbps (60KB/s). Would this be a problem?

Simply drop the resolution of the screen 🙂

If you run his machine at 800x600 and 16 bit , you will loose a lot of that lag
