I am sharing roadrunner with my brother via a dlink cable router (di-704) and lately I've been noticing a serious degradation in my speed when we are both on. As it turns out, he has been downloading large divx files, mp3s, and all other kinds of stuff pretty much constantly while doing other computer stuff.
Anyhow, despiting asking him a few times already, he hasn't eased off the constanting downloading and I was wondering if anyone knew how I could regulate the amount of bandwith he has access to via the router.
The ethernet cable running to his computer is connected to port 4 of the router and I was hoping I could somehow cap the amount of bandwith he has access to, so he won't bog me down all the time.
The Roadrunner account is mine and he doesn't really help pay the bill, so I figure I need to do something. I'm about ready to slip an old 10mps ethernet card into his computer in place of his current 100mps card, but adjusting things via the router would be great.
We are both running XPpro on Pentium IIIs and if anyone else has an alternate idea, I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks!
