Quicklaunch on the Taskbar

I'm using Win-XP, I have quicklaunch with show text enabled on my taskbar (7 Icons Total). When I install programs (IE: Quick Time 5) It puts an icon on the taskbar and all icons become nice and evenly spaced. When I delete the QT-5 icon and reboot my computer the icons are no longer evenly spaced. How can I have the icons evenly spaced all the time? I've tried everything from icon spacing in the Advanced Appearance to searching the net for how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, good question. I've never really messed with it since I have just 2 quicklaunch items there.
