problems with grainy images

I just got a new dell laptop with their nicest display...WSXGA, i think, and it looks amazing, everything is perfectly sharp, except for a couple of things. fonts, games, video and pics i have on my hdd all look perfect, but any image displayed on a web site, and all of the smaller icons, like the quicklaunch icons, and some of the ones in the start menu are very grainy. its not just the resolution needing adjustment or anything, theyre very grainy, and its only these few things, everything else looks perfect. i tried upgrading drivers, but nothing. any ideas? thanks in advance.

u try changing to 16 bit color, it helps on my Toshiba
