Problem with XP Pro

OSNN Senior Addict
Im not sure if this is the right place to post this (moderator please move if its not, sorry).

Basically... When I press Shutdown on XP it restarts? It doesnt turn off?? Im not sure if its a Bios thing or a setting in XP?

Has it always done this? If so, the reason could be the power-management of your PC is not compatible with WinXP. The file that controls this is "hal.dll" (Hardware Abstraction Layer). See if you can find one from your Main Board manufacturer's website. And replace it with the one in your "windows/system32" folder.

Kind regards,

Ep, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there https://tinyurl.com/ycpxl
