Has it always done this? If so, the reason could be the power-management of your PC is not compatible with WinXP. The file that controls this is "hal.dll" (Hardware Abstraction Layer). See if you can find one from your Main Board manufacturer's website. And replace it with the one in your "windows/system32" folder.
