Pro XP on top of Home XP ?

Can I install XP pro on top of Home edition or is this a bad idea ?

I know xp is finicky so I would do a clean install...tried to update from win2k had all kinda wierd problems...good rule of thumb for os upgrades not matter what manufact its from back your shit up reformat and start from a clean disk. might take longer but less of a headache in the long run.
