that was written a long time ago...I no longer suggest turning off all the services possible.
and those services that you don't think are needed are almost always better off manual, and not disabled.
an exception to that rule of thumb would be error reporting, however, I think we should send error reports to microsoft...they really do use those for their future reference
also, black viper is self taught, and there have been huge mistakes on his page, I've corrected a few for him, which he was grateful for, I haven't read the site lately, but I assume it's still not 100% accurate...DO NOT TAKE HIS SITE AS EXPERT, just take it as advice to consider
second, services that aren't being referenced use no CPU time and no memory, so turning them off doesn't do much as far as performance
besides those that present security issues, and the services you decidedly want NOT to run no matter what, the only real reason to prevent a service from starting is to speed the boot time.
