I don't want to offend anybody but I heard that it was possible to er h**k the PDF so it could be edited in word? Is that true - should be legal seeing as it's produced by my company anyway.
Mubbers
Of course if I'd started writing when I'd posted this thread I'd have finished it by now!
Ok now you are violating forum guidelines no hacks of cracks talk. And as far as I know you can not edit a PDF files in Word.
If this is produced by your compnay then you need to find who made it and get the access from him/her.
Sorry PseudoKiller but can you offer some guidance?
Explicitly I'm NOT talking about software piracy as the material I require to edit is not copyrighted.
I have no intention or desire to make illegal copies of adobe acrobat as I already have this software legitimately installed on my machine (pre bundled from new).
The method I had heard about did not alter the Acrobat application but rendered the PDF file into an editable format such as a word document.
All I want to do is type in the answers to the company questionaire neatly so that they can be read.
Can my warning be withdrawn? I wouldn't like to store them up!
I hate to be the voice of dissent. But you can edit .pdf's. But only if the .pdf maker was doing it right. Most people "lock" .pdf files so they cannot be edited, but you can set fields that are editable. If your document is editable you should be able to click in the field and you will get a cursor.
The reason I know this is that a lot of people make character sheets for rpgs this way. For Example Click here. <- This link shows field editable .pdf file. If your document is not like this, then you are SOL, sorry.
Otherwise the best thing to do is print is, if they have given rights to print the document, and fill it out then scan it back in or snail mail it.
There are other programs for editing PDF documents that are legal! I think i maight have one that came free on a Magazine disk, i'll have a look when i get home!
there are 3d party programs that can convert .DOC to .PDF...go to download.com you'll get plent of them...just copy and paste text into word process and then convert it to PDF format.
Edited-
if you don't have office you can convert text files to pdf the program is PDF converter www.sysaga.com
