partition and install xp

i am running xp pro
i want to do a clean install which i am happy doing
i am not sure how to partition the hard drive into 2 or three partitions.
can you do it from the windows disk or do you have to use fdisk.

any help will be great

you can use fdisk, but it will destroy all your data. You can also use partition magic, it will make partitions without destroying your data...

You dont need fdisk !!!!!

boot from the CD

create one partition for OS the size is up to you (its in MB's)

Format (not quick) the filing system of your choice

Xp will now install itself (once installed)

Start / run / diskmgmt.msc

right click on the raw disk space & format
