One click -> open 2 applications?

Is there a way to open two or even more applications by clicking one shortcut? (I mean other than a .bat file which doesn't seem to work properly in my case; get weird error messages...)

I've heard threre are progs that can do that but don't wanna install a program to achieve such an "easy" thing.

I think bat files are the only way without third-party stuff.

what are the error messages, I (or others) maybe able to help
