norton internet 2002 install?

according to the users manual i'm supposed to disable the xp firewall before installing the internet security program, ok,being
new to xp ,where and how do i do this? i'm sure i'll feel real dumb
but i've looked and i don't want to disable something i shouldn't!

Go to Control Panel> Network Connections> right click on your active connection> properties> it's under the "advanced" tab.
