No bitmap support in photoshop or imageready??

i cant open any bitmap files in photoshop or image ready, do i need a plug in??

I open, create, and save BMPs all the time with PS CS2. What happens when you try to open one?

it doesnt see them at all, nothing...

Can you still open BMPs with Paint (wondering if something happened to your file assoc)?

Does this happen when you change the file type to show all files?

yea paint is fine so is paint.net, i went through and reinstalled PS having ps be able to read all files...so thats workin, but is there an easier way to do that??

Yes. File associations. Open explorer, tools, folder options, file types, select bmp and hit change. Then select Photoshop as the default.


You may have to do this with multiple file types. When some crappy applications install they tromp on the registry entries for other programs so you have to use them instead.
