MS Word - save as Web Page - do or don't?

Hey guys - as some of you may know I have been helping worthy places out for free lately... well last week I went to this bunch and showed them Filezilla and sorted their hosting to enable it.

They used to just have one page, so they were noobs and not especially geeky but in a couple of hours I managed to get them to the basics of linking a couple of pages...

It was clear they may slip up with notepad and HTML - so I quickly opted to experiment and used the "Save as web page" option of MSWord for them to perhaps get a step ahead.

What are folks opinions of this in this situation? Once you have done it it sure puts a shed load more code into the pages, but I am not sure if this could inheritly give rise to trouble down the line (it likely means they will not go back to notepad, I guess, but any thing else?)

Opinions and other options welcome 🙂
 
If your intent is to torture web browsers everywhere then proceed with word.

Otherwise there are numerous free WYSYWIG tools out there that do a much better job.

I wouldn't recommend it, as Lord said there are plenty of WYSIWYG editors out there distributed as freeware that will do a much nicer job and be just as easy to use. 🙂
